March 6th - 12th is the 22nd annual Professional Pet Sitters Week (PPSW)!
PPSW is an annual observance that honors professional pet-care providers and seeks to educate the pet-owning public about the advantages of professional in-home pet care, as well as encourage pet-loving entrepreneurs to explore professional pet sitting as a viable career.
PPSW was introduced by Pet Sitters International (PSI), the largest trade organization and the world's leading educational association for professional pet sitters. PSI was founded in 1994 by Patty Moran, author of the book Pet Sitting for Profit, and who is considered the pioneer of the pet sitting industry. Patty started her own pet sitting business after a corporate layoff back in 1983, long before "pet sitter" was a household word. After ten years of running her successful pet sitting business, she founded PSI, which is not only a great resource for professional pet sitters world wide, but for pet owners as well; including their pet sitter locator, where you can find professional pet sitters by zip code.
I have been a member of PSI for 14 years and am grateful for all the support and resources they provide, including Patty's book Pet Sitting for Profit, which I read before I decided to start my own professional pet sitting business.
I am proud to be a Professional Pet Sitter and I want to wish all other Professional Pet Sitters a very Happy PPSW! Pet Sitters rock!
